Making a Difference in Honduras
Every year since 1997, the doctors of Southwest Florida Oral and Facial Surgery have been traveling to San Pedro Sula, Honduras for two weeks each year, generously donating their time and skill to provide oral surgery treatment to hundreds of disadvantaged children each year. Dr. Timothy Hogan and Dr. T.J. Tejera, along with our surgical tech, Ondrea, have been traveling to Honduras since 2008. They each spend one week per year at the Ruth Paz clinic as part of an international team of surgeons and clinical staff who treat up to 50 children per day. Families travel from every part of the country to seek treatment for oral infections, soft tissue pathology, teeth extractions, mouth and facial tumors, cleft lip and palate disorders, and jaw disfigurement.
The Ruth Paz Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to providing health care to underprivileged children and their families in Honduras, organizes the international surgical teams, facilities, and supplies to support their mission. The Foundation has helped thousands of children to smile over the past several years and dedicates their efforts to “Saving Children’s Lives…One Child at a Time”.
